HUMPED PUMPED DUMPED is a raw and immersive six-part video series by Dominique Mantilla based on 6 poems written by the artist himself, exploring the search for love in a city that thrives on excess and self-destruction. Set in a landscape of fleeting connections and chemical highs, the work unravels the tension between desire and despair, where being horny and wanting to die collapse into the same inevitable impulse.
Each poem is embedded within a distinct visual and sonic environment—a club toilet thick with sweat and echoes, a desert swallowed by a sandstorm, a moonlit pond at midnight—each space acting as a stage for the underlying, unseen power structures that dictate intimacy, agency, and survival. The combination of video projection and evocative soundscapes immerses the audience in a world that feels both hyperreal and hallucinatory, pulling them deeper into the psychological terrain of the work.
HUMPED PUMPED DUMPED is a visceral exploration of longing, alienation, and the cyclical nature of self-destruction in contemporary urban life. A compelling addition to collections and exhibitions focusing on experimental video, queer narratives, and the intersection of poetry and moving image, this work invites viewers to lose themselves in its hypnotic, fractured reality.
